Legislative Initiative on the Judges’ Retirement Security

The MPs Artur Davtyan, Vladimir Vardanyan and Anna Karapetyan proposed to solve the problems concerning the judges' retirement security, At February 24 sitting of the NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs, the amendments and addenda being designed in the Judicial Code were debated.


It was proposed to fix the judge's pension in the following way: the 75% of the taxed sum of the salary established for the occupied last post and in the amount of difference of the accumulated pension being paid in the form of annuity and the programmed payments appointed to the judge.


The RA Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Davit Khachatryan noted that the package of the draft laws was still at the phase of debate: there was no final position of the government. The Deputy Minister proposed the MPs to postpone the debate of the item, as there was no united opinion.


The MP Anna Kostanyan noted that a working discussion was designed to hold, and during the period from the first to the second reading, the executive body could present its viewpoint, recommendations and observations. The item of the member judges of the Constitutional Court and the scientist members of the Supreme Judicial Council would also be included in the draft law.
